Community Meal

The Community Meal at First Baptist Church began on December 14, 2004.
We started this program because there was no evening meal on Tuesdays in the city of Troy.  During our first six months we served an average of 44 guests each Tuesday.  Now we serve an average of 75-90 guests.

All local agencies know of our services and we refer our guests to each other depending on the individual needs of our clients.  We also house a Community Closet which offers clothing, coats, blankets, and personal care products to those who attend the Community Meal.  These items are free and provide much needed relief to our guests who are struggling to make ends meet.

We also discovered a need to help provide emergency food for folks that find themselves in a pinch to feed themselves or there family. The Community Cupboard  at First Baptist has canned goods and quick, easy to prepare meals to help get people by.

Pastor Doug Thomson is available if anyone wants to chat or would just like some company.

Checks can be made payable to The Regional Food Bank or First Baptist Soup Kitchen noting 1330S in the memo.   $1.00 buys $13.00 of food at the Regional Food Bank!!
